• Create a Dedicated Space: Set up a comfortable, clutter-free area for your practice. Add a mat, props, or calming elements like candles or plants
• Set a Routine: Schedule your practice at a consistent time to build the habit, whether it's morning, midday, or evening.
• Keep it Simple: Start with poses or sequences you know well and gradually explore new ones, consistency matters more than complexity.
• Use Resources: Follow online classes, apps, or books to guide your practice, especially if you're unsure where to start.
• Set an Intention: Begin each practice with a clear focus or goal, whether it's to stretch, relax, or simply breathe.
• Minimize Distractions: Turn off notifications and let others in your home know you need uninterrupted time. Recruit a partner to help with kids, or let the kids in on a short practice with you!
• Listen to Your Body: Honor how you feel each day. Rest or modify poses when needed, and avoid pushing too hard.
• Incorporate Breath-work: Deep breathing can ground and center you, even if you only have a few minutes.
• Stay Consistent, Not Perfect: A short, mindful practice is better than skipping it altogether.
• Celebrate Your Practice: Appreciate the effort you put in, no matter how small it feels!
Sharing yoga with the family can be incredibly rewarding and challenging at times, be patient. Yogi-see Yogi-do, whether you are aware or not, your littles are picking up on your good habits and eventually they will join in on their own, or find their own ways to practice with you! Yoga is fun, not a chore!
